Getting started: Energy Efficiency in the Home

Jun 8, 2011

I hear it all the time, my house if pretty energy-efficient. Do you really know that it is or are you just guessing? Have you measured your home’s performance on the Energy Star Home Energy Yardstick? Have you done all the little things to make your home more energy-efficient so that you’re not losing money monthly? Have you had an energy audit?

There are so many little things we can do to save money, but most of us don’t know where to start. Here is a short list to get you thinking: air seal your home first, replace lightbulbs, install power strips on all electronics, then insulate. If you have questions about how and where to air seal, give me a call, I would love to help. Check out our Facebook page for pictures of past projects and other tips towards an energy-efficient future.
