This energy can be used to heat water or other fluids. Solar Thermal systems are not the same as solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems.

How a Solar Water-Heating system works:
- Solar thermal collectors on a roof or other structure absorb solar energy.
- Fluid in the panel is circulated through the collectors by a energy-efficient pump that delivers heat to a water storage tank.
- The solar tank offers a reserve of heated water that can then be used within the structure.
