SVBA Home and Garden Show

SVBA Home and Garden Show

The Home Show is up and running and looks to be another great event. If you have any home improvement projects on the horizon, this is the place to be this weekend in Harrisonburg. Join the fun, place a bid in the silent auction, and talk with experts. I will be at the show all day today to take your questions about saving energy, adding an addition, or building your dream home. The show is open from 10 am – 8 pm today and noon – 5pm Sunday. See you at the show!

Reblog: The Shenandoah Valley Builder’s Association Home and Garden Show is just around the corner. The event held at the JMU Convocation Center is April 8, 9, & 10.  This annual event brings together in one place the best products and services that you need for building or renovating your home. The event features a charity auction, plant show & sale, The Helmuth Builders Small Building Sale, Shenandoah Valley Watercolor Society Art Show, Treasure Hunt Game, and the SPCA Great Dog and Cat Election. Join us at the event, bring your building and design questions – we would love to talk to you.

The Charity Auction

For the fifth consecutive year, Massanutten Technical Center is partnering with the Shenandoah Valley Builders Association on its Annual Home and Garden Show.    This year’s Home and Garden Show will be held at the James Madison University Convocation Center.  Massanutten Technical Center students and teachers will be out at the show all weekend.  Outside on Builders Square, you can find our Building Trades classes and lots of demonstrations of student skills in Welding, Heating and Cooling, Masonry, Carpentry, and Electricity.   Inside the Convocation Center, you will find more MTC students and instructors holding skills demonstrations throughout the weekend.

MTC will auction off a 1972 Ford LTD convertible at the Home and Garden show on April 9, 2011.  This car is in excellent condition.  It has a 429 engine, red interior, and is all original.  This car is a collector’s car.  Only 4234 of the 1972 LTD convertibles were made.  This one was donated to MTC to sell by the original owner who purchased the car in February 1972.  Along with the car comes the original paperwork, key fob, and DMV documentation from Obaugh Ford in Staunton, where the car was purchased. This car looks and runs great!  It has 1972 Virginia License Plates that come with the car.  The LTD can be seen at MTC.

SPCA Great Dog & Cat Election

The Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA is coming to the Home & Garden Show in a BIG way!

SPCA volunteers are setting up a satellite adoption center inside the Convo.  To give these adorable animals a break, adoptable dogs and cats will be rotating in out   throughout the Show. There will also be a display of photographs of all the dogs and cats currently up for adoption.

To raise funds for this worthy cause, and just for the fun of it, Show visitors will be invited to vote for their favorite dog and their favorite cat with a donation of $1 per ballot. At the end of the Show, the winning dog and the winning cat will be named Co-Mascots of the 31st Annual Show!
