Please continue to order take out and purchase gift cards from our locally owned restaurants – but also plan for the future. Go to their social media pages and write an online review, repost to your timeline, and invite a friend to like the restaurant’s page. This will not only help these restaurants now, but will help them as we emerge from this new normal – hopefully soon.
Who should I add to the list? Where should I go eat when we can go out again? Add to my list and write reviews today!
The first two batches of architectural coloring books were very popular and I had some requests. So here are a few more options. Hope you enjoy them. Feel free to share your creation in the comments or on our social media pages.
Proposed Daycare Building –View 1 and View 2 – First Draft (it has changed a lot since this version)
I have heard the suggestions to order take-out from local restaurants and to purchase gift cards. Those are both great ways to support the local restaurant community and maybe some of our local retail shops. I have seen local music artists sharing their gifts with options to make donations to help them make it through this challenging time. Here is one more idea to support local businesses – like their social media pages, share their posts, write a review!!!!, and build them up. This will help them when we come out of this dark time and come back together as a community. Here is a list to get you started, add more in the comments below and I will update the list.
I need to do some billable work now – I will continue to update this list and will work on restaurants later this week! Send me your business listing to add or businesses you support please.
Architectural Resources for Primary School Teachers
As you look for new and fun things to do while kids are out of school, here are some resources. These were created a few years ago, but I think it is still relevant.

15 Week Architecture Construction and Engineering Course
When I was in Charlottesville I taught a 15 week course to introduce high school students to the construction industry. Here is the syllabus for the program. ACE Mentor Program Design Challenge
Class Activity – Draw this room to scale
Gather supplies of a ruler (or any straight edge), graph paper (paper with squares on it) and a pencil, or a pen if you are desperate.
With the paper on the table, use your
FEET and measure out the length and width of the room where you are located by
walking from one wall across the room to the other side of the room.
Using the squares on the paper, where one square equals one footstep, mark the paper, and use the ruler to make straight lines. This is NOT easy for some people, so make sure that you are using the straight edge to make straight lines and ask for help if it keeps getting messed up.
Origami House
Build and decorate a quick house. Make a few and you can have a small village full of Origami Houses
Our friends at NEED.org always have cool resources. Here is a list of Distance Learning Resources that are hands on. NEED.org

Here is another resource I created while working with a Kindergarten class several years ago. These architectural shape activity pages are for Kindergarten – maybe second grade. Or maybe for anyone that is board and likes to do seek and find puzzles. How many shapes can you find in each photo? Post your results and let us know how many you find.
